Background of the Africa Golf Confederation (AGC)

About us

Founded in 2008, the Africa Golf Confederation (AGC) stands as the preeminent governing body for amateur golf across the African continent.

17+YEARS OVER

With a mandate to promote and develop the sport of golf, AGC oversees the organization of regional and continental tournaments, supports grassroots golf initiatives, and collaborates with national golf federations to ensure the sport’s growth and sustainability.

The AGC has played a pivotal role in nurturing this growth, creating pathways for young talent, and positioning golf as a sport that transcends socioeconomic boundaries. However, despite these achievements, the potential for golf in Africa remains largely untapped.

Golf in Africa has grown exponentially over the past few decades. According to recent statistics, Africa is home to over 1.5 million golfers, with countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Nigeria, and Egypt leading in participation rates.

Expeditions

The continent also boasts some of the most picturesque landscapes and climates conducive to world-class golf courses, yet many regions still lack the necessary infrastructure and resources to fully realize this potential.

This is where ACFTA’s support could make a transformative impact.

Annually we organize and host the following events that rotate within member Countries.

We have also launched the Regional Junior Team championships and Region 4 will host the inaugural Junior Team championship this year.
